Indeed it was fun and excitement at this year’s
edition of Felabration which was spectacular in
many ways and if Fela was alive it would have
been his 77th birthday. Among others, series of
events organised to celebrate the annual event
highlighted the ideals the late musical icon stood
for.
And at the New Afrika Shrine, Agidingbi, Lagos,
thousands of fans from far and near gathered to
celebrate the music legend who died 18 years
ago at the age of 58.
For a whole week, the New Afrika Shrine became
a Mecca of sort as artistes, tourists and fun
seekers from across the world thronged the
venue and Fela’s sons, Femi and Seun Kuti were
on hand to thrill. Others who performed at the
show were Majek Fashek, Timi Dakolo, Cobhams,
Cynthia Morgan, Seyi Shay, MI, Ice Prince, Third
World and London Afro beat Collective and a host
of numerous musicians.
