The moment came as news of the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's second child was announced by Kensington Palace. The newborn, a little princess, made her entrance this morning at 8.34am following a speedy three-hour labour. The couple emerged shortly after news of the royal
birth - and were met by a barrage of camera flashes.
While the new father appeared anxious to get away, his partner looked delighted and even captured the moment for posterity and snapped a picture of the Press. Afterwards, they speedily tucked their blue blanketed bundle of joy safely into a waiting car and drove off.
News that the Duchess of Cambridge had gone into labour broke in the early hours of the morning, amd immediately, the world's Press descended on the street facing the private Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. Pics continue below:
